What is a consultant?

What is a consultant?

A consultant is an expert or an experienced professional in a specific field and has a wide knowledge of the subject matter.  A consultant provides expertise that a client lacks or support that a client is unable to fulfill.  A consultant can do the work for you or can show you how to do it.

Consultants are independent and provide an objective view on a business or department.  Consultants provide a fresh perspective since they are unbiased to existing internal politics and/or sensitive situations.  Consultants may in certain areas be cheaper than retaining the expertise in-house.  Consultants can be a quick solutions when a shortage in capacity is found.  Consultants are not intimated by reality and identifying the internal problems that are not easy to confront.

Consultants help clients attain goals, solve problems and incite change.

Why hire a consultant?

Save money since a consultant is not an employee, therefore, you will not pay for taxes, benefits or have human resource issues.  Work is scalable, you are able to use as much or as little as you need.  On the other hand it is easy to terminate a consultant when no longer needed.  You get independent advise and diverse ideas based on their experiences.  Receive confidential and result driven professional point of view, reports and/or plan for success.
